Wednesday Nights Open Late December 21st and 28th
Starting December 21st the SLCC exhibits, gift shop and café will be open until 7pm on Wednesday evenings, with exhibit tours at 5pm and 6pm. Twilight snowshoeing tour available at 4pm and 5pm through Blackcomb Adventures .
Feature Artists - Every Sunday
Every Sunday in February we will have a feature artist on site working in our Great Hall. Visit the exhibits and have the opportunity to meet the artist, learn about their work and see a variety of Squamish and Lil'wat art. Squamish Nation Traditional Wool Weaving - Allison Burns
Date: Sunday February 5th
Artist Bio: Allison for the most part a self-taught wool weaver, with the guidance; from master weavers Chief Janice George and Buddy Joseph. She typically works with wool; on the other hand Allison is talented at sketching. Allison is continually challenging herself, trying new ideas and technique to her weaving. She will be starting a piece that our Aboriginal Youth Ambassadors will work on to learn the traditional art of weaving.
Lil'wat Nation Regalia Design - Holly Joseph
Date: Sunday February 12th
Artist Bio: Holly lives Mount Currie British Columbia and works in Whistler at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre as a First Nations Cultural Ambassador. Her ancestral name is txwoalt'malh. Holly currently makes regalia for many of the First Nations performers in British Columbia and her work can be seen adorning dancers at Cultural Performances and First Nations Gatherings.
Squamish Nation Repoussé Copper Design - Aaron Nelson-Moody
Date: Sunday February 19th
Artist Bio: Aaron Nelson-Moody, or "Splash", lives and works in the Capilano Village on the North Shore of Vancouver, British Columbia. These days he is working mainly on jewelry engraving, repoussé (working both sides of metal sheet with hammer and punches, to create a design) and still carves the larger houseposts and panels on commission. Splash is a master carver from Squamish Nation and has worked on many pieces at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre.
Lil'wat Nation Pine Needle Basket Weaving - Heather and Richard Ashley Joseph
Date: Sunday February 26th
Artist Bio: Richard Ashley Joseph is a pine needle weaver and was inspired to take up the art after his wife Heather Joseph gave him pine needle basket that she had made for an anniversary gift. He was drawn to the complexity of the craft and the possibilities offered by the medium. Ashley and Heather's piece is currently featured in our February draw prize.

Come to a special Yoga workshop with Erin Anderson of White Gold Yoga who recently traveled to Kenya to work with the Africa Yoga Project. For over a year Erin has been fundraising in the Whistler community for AYP generating over $11,000 for this great cause. Fresh back from this empowering journey, Erin is excited to share her lessons from her Africa Yoga Project experience.
Through the physicality of a Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga practice, participants will access their true nature, give up limited beliefs and cultivate a clearer vision of what lights them up! Yoga Beyond Boundaries is about fostering a connection to ourselves so we can reach out to others. This workshop will draw upon our inherent desire to be at service and will give tools for effective ways to lead the change in the world!
